Cityscape ( Vedute) with with old vienna street scene in the Griechengasse was executed in watercolour by good listed Austrian cityscape painter Felix Riedl (AKA Felix Riedel, Austrian 1878-1950), painter, illustrator and architect born in Austria in 1878 and primarily known for his realist watercolor and oil paintings with high detail, to include architectural buildings, cityscapes, village scenes, cathedrals/churches, landmarks, landscapes, gardenviews, architectural ruins, floral still lifes, figurative genre scenes, as well as drawings and early illustrations for a series of 'Viennese Art' postcards (Wiener Kunst) featuring historical & genre scenes & locations, and scenes from famous musical composers such as Franz Schubert (1797-1828) and Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) of some of their well known musical compositions. In addition to his career as an artist, it appears that Riedl also worked as an architect in Munich, Germany around 1929, which would explain his ability to render his finely detailed paintings and scenes of architecture and various buildings that he is primarily known for. His name is sometimes alternately referred to and signed as Felix Riedel, with the same birth & death dates. He resided in Vienna and died in 1950.
