A pair of mountain landscapes in Austrian Alps (Salzkammergut or Tirol) was executed by famous Austrian landwscape painter and graphic artist Franz Barbarini ( 1804 Znaim - 1873 Vienna). Father of two another painters Emil and Gustav Barbarini, Franz B. studied at the Viennese Academy from 1824 to 1826 in the sculptor class, later in the workshop of Josef Kempel. Study travells to Austrian Alps and to Switzerland. Created a lot of romantical-realistical landscapes, watercolours and etchings of Salzburg, Salzkammergut, Tirol, Switzerland. nfluenced from art of Thomas Ender and Johann Fischbach.

Works by Barbarini situate : in the Neu Galerie and Landes-Museum, Innsbruck; Linz , Neue Galerie; Vienna: Albertina , Historical City Museum and Art-Historical Museum; St.Pölten, Province museum of Lower Austria.Exhibitions: Vienna: 1835-49 Academy.; 1851-55Austrian Artist Union.

Inscription: one of two signed with monogram F.B. lower middle .

Technique: both oils on canvas, painted in oval, laid down on rectangular canvas. Gold-plated frames.

Measurements: each  image oval 17 7/8" x 15" (45,5 x 38 cm); unframed  w 18 2/3" x h 15 3/4" (47,5 x 40 cm); framed w 25 1/4" x h 22 " (64 x 56 cm).

Condition: in good condition.
