Austrian painter Franz Jung-Ilsenheim (real name Franz Xaver Jung), born 1883 in Vienna (died 1963 in Salzburg) studied in the Vienna Academy under Prof.Streblows. In his early years the artist showed great interest in natural sciences and pre-historic times and in 1914-1918 was employed as painter at the Hall of Glory of the Austrian Defence Ministry.He was also a defty illustrator. During WWI F.Jung-Ilsenheim was painting batalist scenes and in the 1920-30s painted large historic panoramas. His famous Diorama in the "Haus der Natur" in Salzburg attracted thousand of admirers. Then his creative interest turned to history, namely to the topic "Deutsche Vorgeschichte in Bildern" (German Prehistory in Pictures).
