Our perfect portrait of an Italian youth (a pair to the previous portrait) was created by famous Austrian painter Joseph Ernst Tunner (Tuner)(1792-1877). The artist studied in Vienna Academy, later in Prague under Josef von Fuerich and in Rome, where he was close to art school of Nazarener. In 1840 Tunner became a director of Ladscape Draftschool in Graz.

Inscription: signed Jos.Tuner, dated 1850 to the right.

Technique: oil on canvas. Empire style massive gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 13 1/2" x h 17 3/4" (34,2 x 45 cm), framed w 20 1/2" x h 24 1/2" (52 x 62 cm)

Condition: in good condition, unlined, some old inpaintings on the figure and on the face, which are seen only under ultra-violet lamp.
