A part of 4 views of European cities y the same artist with identical dimensions and frames (for other see item No. 2428; 2430; 2431). This lot is to sell only together with other parts. This rare view depicting Melk Abbey or Stift Melk, an Benedictine Abbey and one of the world´s most famous monastic sites. It is located above the town of Melk on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river Danube in Lower Austria, adjoining the Wachau valley. The author of this painting Austrian landscape J.Wilhelm Jankowski (1825 Bohemia - 1870 Austria) recieved his popularity with views of different European cities and landscapes in the middle of 19th century , for exemple views of Salzburg, Vienna, Traunsee, Rome, Sevilla, Melk, Venice, Gmunden, Heidelberg , Amsterdam and others.

Inscription: signed lower left.
