Masterfully painting from the Biedermeier epoche depicts 3 young sisters with basket of flowers (probably children of Grand Duke of Baden-Baden/Germany), where the artist Johann Grund (1808 - 1887) worked as court painter.

The author  Johann Grund  was important  historical, genre and portrait painter, born in Vienna 19.05.1808, died in Baden-Baden in 1887. He studied at the Art Academy in Vienna and then in Paris and Rome. After his back from Rome he lived in Karlsruhe and then till death as court painter by Duke of Baden-Baden. His paintings were exibited in the different famous exibitions in Eropa from Karlsruhe, Wiesbaden, Munich, Vienna. Owners of his works were very renown collectors as English Quinn Victoria, Belvedere Gallery in Vienna, Prinz of Fuerstenberg, Mrs Pike/ New York, Art museums in Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Dresden.

Very similar to our painting with 3 sisters (property of Victoria of England) can be find in the important monography "Paintings of 19th century" by Friedrich Boetticher, Leipzig, 1941, p.421, pos. 8.

Inscription: signed and dated 1858.

Technique: oil on canvas. Original period gold-plated  frame.
