This orientalist painting was purchase in a German private collection with other 3 paintings by the same artist (see item No.1953, 2727 and 2738) and was executed 1900 in impressionistic manner by listed German-Austrian impressionist and orientalist Emil Uhl ( born 1864 in Brüx). Pupil of Fine Arts Academy in Munich, further trained in Paris by Bonnat and Roll. Worked in Munich and Vienna. The artist travelled to Orient, Egypt, Palestine, from where he recieved main motives for his paintings. His oriental landscapes, executed in the impressionistic manner, are very rare on the art market .

Inscription: signed lower right, on the reverse of canvas: marked with inventory number, titled and signed by the artist in German: "Am Nil, E.Uhl".

Technique: oil on canvas. Original period frame.

Measurements: unframed 27 1/2 " x 26" (70 x 66 cm), framed 36 1/4" x 31 " (92 x 79 cm)

Condition: very good.
