Monumental allegorical painting depicting a beautiful nude as allegory of music was executed in 1880 by good listed French painter and illustrator Francois Thevenot ( born 1856 in Paris ) . He studied by Cabanel and Lequien. Exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais since 1880, in 1883 recieved honorable mention, medals: in 1885 and 1891.Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1909. He illustrated "The crown of ivy", "The legend of the eagle" by George of Esparbes, "Minnie Brandon" by Leon Hennique; "Page love" by E.Zola.

Inscription: signed and dated 1880, lower left .

Technique: oil , gold (the outer edges) on canvas, luxuriousy original period gilt frame.

Measurements: unframed : w 65 3/4" x 54" (167 x 137 cm), framed w. 71 1/4" x h. 60 1/4" (181 x 153 cm).

Condition: in very good condition.
