This lovely animalistic genre painting depicts a cat sitting on the balustrade and watch for a butterfly fluttering among the bouquet of lilacs. It was executed in the second half of 19th century by the typical represantative of French school, signed c illegible "Reder", on the reverse of stretcher - original French inscription"Red..chat et lilac" and stamp of French canvas producer.

Inscription: signed lower right.

Technique: oil on canvas. Luxuriousy old gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed 18 1/2 " x 21 5/8" (47x 55 cm), framed 24 1/4" x 27 1/2 " (61,5 x 70 cm).
