"Birth of Venus", this mythological painting executed by good listed Italian historical, glass and fresco painter Giuseppe Bertini (1825 - Milan -1898). He was son of Giovanni Battista B.; Brother of Pompeo B., with which he continued the workshop of his father. Studied Accad. di Brera in Milan by Luigi Sabatelli and Giuseppe Bisi. in 1844, B. receives for the glass painting "Riposo in Egitto" the prize"Premio Mylius per le arti industriali". With the Painting "Dante e frate Ilario " (Milan, pinacoteca di Brera), which brings him the Grand Prize for painting, proves itself B. in history painting as the successor of the Italian artist Francesco Hayez. The traditional Rome prize he recieved together with Eleuterio Pagliano, with him he returned to Milan and both founded a joint atelier. 1851 as a glass painter member of the Accad. di Brera. The glass Painting "il trionfo di Dante " will be issued in the same year in London and by subscription for the PInacoteca Ambrosiana purchased. In the 1850s the firma Bertini created Several glass paintings in the neu gotic style, mainly for ecclesiastical buildings in Germany and abroad. In the following decades, B. acts increasingly as a painter lit. and genre subjects as potrait artist - portrait of Alessandro Finzi 1870 brings him the "Premio Principe Umberto" - as well as with relig. And mythological Motifs in appearance. Numerous exhibitions E.g. with La Parisina (after Byron), at the world exhibition in 1855. Paris; in 1857 with IL ritorno di Renzo e Lucia dopo gli sponsali and in 1859 with the com. Ofelia (formerly SLG Negroni-Prato) and Vittorio Emanuele II, all in the Accad. di Brera. Since 1860 Professor for painting at the Accad. Brera, he trains including Tranquillo Federico Faruffini, Cremona, Daniele Ranzoni, Mosè Bianchi and Angelo Morbelli. Genre and social works - in the late period. He created in collaboration with Casnedi and Cavenaghi the new theater curtain of Teatro della Scala .
