Academical qualty painitng depicts Holy Family by rast and was executed in 1902 by Austrian-Hungarian artist Jozsef Dragan ( born 1861 in  Forchtenstein (Frakno in Hungarian), now Austrian province Burgenland). In 1883-1885 he studied at the Vienna Art Academy at first by Christian Griepenkerl and then in 1885- 1892 by C.L.Mueller.  In 1883 he became prize of Academy  and in  1888 - prize of master student. After study he worked in Vienna , one of his work - decoration of chapel in the Antonius Church, later he returned to his naitive city Forchtenstein (Frankno).  Jozsef Dragan was a renowned religion painter, whose works are on view in various Viennese and Austrian provincial churches and chambers.

Inscription: in German signed J.Dragan, dated 1902 and titled Vienna, lower left.

Technique: oil on canvas/cardboard. Magnificent original period gold-plated frame.

Measurements:  unframed w 47 1/3" x h 33 1/2" (120 x 85 cm), framed w 57 3/4" x h 44 1/5" (147 x 112 cm)

Condition: in very good condition
