A pair to the next item No. 4366.This small oval painting with motive from The Gmundner Lake in Austrian Salzkammergut was executed by good listed Austrian landscape painter Josef Mayburger (1814 Starsswalchen - 1908 Salzburg). Josef Michael Mayburger was an Austrian painter, teacher and local politician.As the son of a schoolmaster, he experienced the hardship in the aftermath of the French wars and lost his parents at the age of fourteen years. He still managed to visit the teacher´s seminar in Salzburg after a merchant apprenticeship, became a teacher and Professor at the Salzburg secondary school. From 1862 to 1869, he was also a member of the Salzburg Municipal Council and became known as the saviour of many Salzburg monuments.As a landscape painter, he gained fame in his later years. His mountain and urban landscapes are characterized by precision and clear lines, as well as by an impressive light show.The city beautification Club in 1862 he co-founded survives today under the name Club Salzburg.1924, Mayburger learned also recognition by the city of Salzburg, the right lower Salzach Bank Josef-Mayburger-Kai was named as.Literature:

Measurements: only image in oval: w 5 1/2" x h 4 1/8" (14 x 10,5 cm), laid down on paper: w 11 1:4" x h 8 1/8" (28,5 x 20,5 cm).
