Masterfully old master still life was executed in the late 17th - early 18th century in the manner of Roman flower school. Fully identical style, composition and its quality give us reason to attribute this work to the hand of Austrian-Italian baroque painter Franz Werner von Tamm (1658 - 1724). The artist, born in Hamburg, travelled and worked in Rome in the years 1685-1695, trained in the studio of Carlo Maratta, and then, as Emperor Leopold I called him ca. 1795 as own court painter, Tamm settled in Vienna . Here he became a leading representative of still life painting with a large influence on the genre in the 18th Century. For comparison see a few other unsigned flower works by F.W. von Tamm (source: date base artprice.com).
