View of a old town scene with small dealer´s stand was executed ca. in 1890s by Paris painter and decorator AlexandreBailly (1866 -Paris - 1947). This painting signed by the author and on the back of the work is original stamp in French : Vente D´Atelier Alexandre Bailly" ( in English: sale of workshop of Alexandre Baillly). This workshop was founded in the 1890s by Marcel JAMBON (1848-1908), decorative painter, joined by his apprentice and son-in-law Alexandre BAILLY. The workshop, located at 73 Rue Secteur in the XIXth arrondissement in Paris, provides the great theaters of the Belle Epoque: Opéra, Opéra-Comique, French Comedy, Sarah Bernhardt Theater, Grévin Museum, etc. The workshop also produces panoramas for the Universal Exhibitions, sets for public monuments (the Béziers arena), the companies (La Compagnie Sleeping cars) and private clubs (sportsmen in particular), private individuals. In the 1920s, the studio even turned to the film industry at the "Art & Industrie" company, in which Alexandre Jambon-Bailly teamed up with Henri Niepce to create silent film sets. Very concerned about historical truth, Jambon and Bailly traveled extensively: India, China, Japan, Egypt, Turkey, Russia ...
