This colourfully impressionistic work was executed On the turn of 20th Century by famous French painter of Swiss origin Lucien Laurent-Gsell (1860 in Paris - 1944). Laurent-Gsell came from a family of artists. His father was the glass painter Gaspard Gsell, who led the company Laurent & Gsell in Montmartre, his grandfather was the lithographer Jakob Laurenz Gsell. The glass and church painter Albert Gsell was his brother.Laurent-Gsell received his first artistic instruction from his father. With his support, he was later accepted at the École des Beaux-Arts and was taught by Alexandre Cabanel and Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, among others.At the age of 84, Lucien Laurent-Gsell died in Paris, where he also found his last resting place.
