Despite the presence of the signature, this still life is a typical work of the world-famous French artist Henri Fantin-Latour ( 1836 Grwnoble - 1904 Bure). For comparison with stilistic identical works by the artist see Wikipedia in on-line.

In addition to the full identity of our work in comparison with the well-known Fantin-Latour still-lifes, confidence in our attribution is based also to the fact that on the back of the panel is the stamp of the most famous 19th century paint factory for artists “Dr. Franz Schönfeld & Co.", which was founded by this chemist in 1862 and which services were used by famous international artists of the time, like German, and French, including Vincent van Gogh (see his letters to brother Theo), Andreas Achenbach, Wilhelm Kamphausen, and later, in the 20th century: Joseph Beuys and Georg Baselitz. It is also interesting that the headquarters of the manufactory Dr. Schönfeld & Co. was located since 1896 in close proximity to the famous union of artists "Malkasten", which was an international meeting place for artists, architects and writers.
