View of a street in the old town of Annecy. Annecy is an Alpine town in southeastern France. It is located at the mouth of the Lac d 'Annecy in the Thiou. The city is best known for its old town Vieille Ville, with its cobbled streets, meandering canals and pastel-coloured houses.

The author of this painting is good listed French landscape painter Pierre - Alexandre Jeanniot ( 1826-1892).

Born in Champlitte in Haute-Saône on May 28, 1826; died in Vesoul on May 16, 1892. Father of another painter-Impressionist Pierre Georges Jeanniot (born 1848). Pierre-Alexandre studied by Diday and Calame in Geneva in 1847; Director of the Dijon School of Fine Arts from 1873 to 1879, where he had been teaching since 1851. Created Alpine landscapes and portraits , exhibited in 1852-1873 at the Paris Salon. His works are in the museums of Dijon and Nancy. Literature: Artist lexicons (in German) by Thieme/Becker, (in French) by Benezit; , Bellier et Auvray; Dictionary of Artists and Art workers of the Franche-Comte, by Paul Brune, 1912. Inscription: signed lower left, on the back of former frame is antique label with French inscription about artist and original title „Vue d‘Annecy". Technique: oil on canvas. Magnificent antique gold-plated frame. Measurements: unframed w 8 1/8" x h 10 1/2" (20,5 x 26,5 cm), framed w 12 1/4" x h 14 1/8" (31 x 36 cm). Condition: good, original canvas, no any inpaintings or paintlosses.
