This museum quality flower still life was executed by one of most prominent Austrian flower painters of 19th century Sebastian Wegmayer ( 1776 - Vienna - 1857). His still life paintings are high quoted on the international art market (see a few results on additional images) and situate in the Belvedere , Lichtenstein museums in Vienna, in the National Museum in Warsaw and in the famous private collections around the world.

Sebastian Wegmayr was a painter of the Biedermeier period known for his high quality. His favorite subjects were fruits and animals, and his great talent was particularly evident when it came to the pieces of flowers. After studying at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with J. B. Drechsler, the artist worked from 1806 at the Vienna Academy as a correction at the Manufactory Drawing School and from 1812 as a professor of flower painting. Wegmayr was already very successful during his lifetime and received the title of an academic councilor for his services.
