Fien early still life with roses and a bird was executed in 1842 by good-listed Austrian flower painter from the Biedermeier Epoch Leopold Brunner the elder (1788 Vienna - 1866 Vorderbrühll by Vienna). He was famous flower painter, father of two another artists Josef Brunner the Younger and Leopold Brunner the Younger.

After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts (with Johann Baptist Drechsler, who also gave him three years of private lessons), Brunner created watercolors with natural history depictions for Crown Prince Ferdinand, became a court painter in 1835 and supplied approximately 3,500 sheets (mostly watercolors) for Ferdinand I in 1835-1838 natural history content; Fideikommissbibliothek).

In 1830 he stayed in Warsaw and worked there for the distinguished society.

Inscription: signed lower left and dated 1842.

Technique: oil on metal. Original period gold-plated frame.

Condition: in very good condition, professionally cleaned and restored.
