View of picturesque Austrian town Gmunden and castle Ort on the Lake Traunsee was executed in 19th century by famous landscape and history painter Ferdinand Lepié (also Lépgé). Th artist was born in 1824 in Prague, where he attended the academy from 1841 to 1844. Around 1850 to 1860 he was a drawing teacher in the Strahov Monastery. At the beginning of the 1860s he moved to Vienna, where he gave drawing lessons at the imperial court. Lepié painted numerous views of the Austrian and Bavarian Alps, of Prague, Persenbeug, Melk, Klosterneuburg, Baden, Schottwien, the Heldenberg of Kleinwetzdorf and other places in Lower Austria. Ferdinand Lepié died in Vienna in 1883.
