Mythological painting by famous Austrian historical painter,, graphic artist and illustrator Carl Joseph Geiger (1822 in Vienna - 1905 there).

Geiger was a student at his hometown art academy. Through the mediation of his teachers, he later became a student of the history painter Joseph von Führich.

Geiger found his focus on numerous historical and religious topics and was able to make a name for himself early on. In addition to independent work, commissioned work should also be mentioned here, including the design of a votive altar in St. Stephen´s Cathedral, the large curtain of the Carltheater and the artistic design of several rooms in the Palais Kinsky and the Vienna Stock Exchange.

Geiger also provided many templates (drawings) for woodcuts by other artists.

Carl Joseph Geiger died on October 19, 1905 in Vienna at the age of almost 83.
