This landscape painting with a young lady holding flowers and umbrella, was executed in 1832 in Bordeaux by good listed French portrait and genre painter, pastellist and lithographer AIMÉ-HENRI-EDMOND SEWRIN-BASSOMPIERRE (1809-1896).

Edmond Sewrin born 1809 in Paris and died in 1896 in the same city at the age of 87.A pupil of Hersent and Destouches, he entered the École des Beaux-Arts on April 3, 1830. He exhibited at the Salon from 1832 to 1875, mainly oil or pastel portraits and obtained a third class medal in 1846. He regularly receives orders from the state for religious works or copies from 1831; churches of Caylus, Lorient, Landerneau, Briec. We also owe him many lithographs including a series on Bagnières de Bigorre.

Inscription: signed and dated lower right: Edmond Sewrin, 1832, Bordeaux; on the back of original frame is antique inscription in French about depicted person ( difficult to read).

Technique: oil on canvas, Original period gilt frame.

Measurements: unframed w 20" x h 24 1/4" (51 x 61,5 cm), framed w 25 5/8" x h 29 7/8" (65 x 76 cm).

Condition: very good original condition.
