The view of the Austrian picturesque village of Hallstatt on Lake Hallstatt was created before 1838 by the Austrian landscape painter Eduard Mössmer (1814 - Vienna - 1838). The artist came from the renowned family of landscape painters, his grandfather Johann Mössmer, his father and teacher Joseph Mössmer (1780 - 1845) and his brother Raimund Mössmer (1813 - 1884). Raimund Mössmer traveled with his father to the Austrian provinces and got motifs for his pictures there. His landscapes are extremely rare on the art market.
