This is great allegorical painting with artistic figures as symbols of arts, disposed by Karlov Bridge in Praque . This monumental painting created in 1901 by famous Czech artist Ferdinand Hercik (1861 Trebon - 1923 Praque). He studied at the Praque Art Academy by M.Pirner, V.Brozik and V. Hynais and later in Paris. Since 1905 - Professor in Brno. Personal exhibition in Brno in 1922. It´s known, he decorated Praque Museum Applied Arts with large allegorical panels . We recieved the letter from this museum (signed by expert Mr. Petr Stembera) with confirm: " Yes, you are right, it is big study for one of 6 his huge paintings of the staircase of our museum, realised 1901-1904/1905. Your one is "Graphics /Graphic Art/""...

Inscription: signed lower left and dated 1901

Technique: oil on canvas. Original period frame.

Measurements: unframed w 33 " x h 63" (84 x 160 cm), framed w 37 1/3" x h 67 3/4" ( 95 x 172 cm)

Condition: in very good condition
