Important historical watercolour executed in 1879 in Vienna and depicting one of famous "Makart Ringstrasse processions" (in our case procession of jewelers (in german: Goldschmiede), Hans Makart (1840-1884), grounder of Viennese Historicism, organized 1879 a procession on the occasion of the silver wedding of the Austrian Royal couple (Franz Joseph and Elizabeth), with which some hundred protagonists was involved, for which were sketched the costumes into details . Above all there were Renaissance costumes for the delegations of the citizens and different professions and baroque costumes for the artists. Numerous sketches in addition are still received. From 1880-1882 Makart was executive committee of the Viennese art union "Kuenstlerhaus". In his studio he organized again and again sumptuous celebrations, in which important personalities of the time participated . The author of our watercolour famous Danish historical and genre painter Frederik Christian Lund (1826 - Kopenhagen - 1901) painted it during his visit of Vienna (it`s dated: "Vienna, 27.April 1879" ! ). It´s known from his biography , Lund created a similar watercolour seria of "danish national costumes" (now in national museum Stockholm) and a watercolour " folk procession " (now situated in the Royal theater in Kopenhagen). For comparison with Lund ´s painting " procession of danish folk" see follower link :
