Masterfully Biedermeier portrait of a Viennese noble lady was executed in the early 19th century by important Viennese portrait miniature artist Johann Martin Schermer or Shaermer (1785 Nassenreith/Tirol - 1868 Vienna). Pupil of Viennese Academy since 1807, the artist was a skillful miniature painter. In the important collection of Professor Dr. E. Ullmann, Vienna was a portrait of a young girl; in the collection Josef Flesch, Vienna l- the portrait of a young lady, signed and dated 1816. Schermer had a position of trust with Ore Duke Johann and belonged beyond to the circle of friends around composer Franz Schubert and Franz von Schober and was friendly also with the Hungarian poet Kisfaludy, for whose paperback " Aurora" he created drawings . It painted portrait miniatures to his end of life and created also a draft for the emperor Franz monument. On the miniature exhibition, Vienna, 1905, was shown by him a gentleman portrait and on the exhibition; "The painted small portrait" in the National Library, Vienna, 1931 was iexhibited a lady portrait.

Technique: watercolour on paper. Luxuriousy original biedermeier gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 7 3/4" x h 9" (19,5 x 23 cm), framed w 11 3/4" x h 12 3/4 " (30 x 32,5 cm).

Condition: in very good condition
