Lovely genre scene with Italian peasants flirting at the well was executed ca. 1870s by well renown Austrian genre and portrait painter-traveller Carl Goebel (1824-1899). He was a very well-known watercolour and graphic artist. His first teachers were the famous romantical artists J.A. Klein and J.C.Ehrhard. Later he studied also at the Vienna Academy. He was a very popular portrait and genre painter who travelled through Europe and Russia and worked at various European courts. Works by him belong to collections of various museums.

Inscription: signed lower right .

Technique: watercolour on paper, original period frame.

Measurements: w 13 " x h 18 1/8 " (33 x 46 cm), framed w 23 5/8 " x 28 3/4 " (60 x 73 cm).

Condition: in very good condition
