This large and dynamic racing scene (gouache on paper) "Unfortunate twist in the rain" was executed in the 1890s by the highly listed Austrian illustrator Gottfried Sieben (1856 stockerau - 1918 Vienna). Pupil of Viennese Fine Arts Academy under Carl von Blaas and Carl Wuerzinger. Since 1880 he has been a painter-employee at the famous magazine "Wiener Caricaturen" and other illustrative news-papers of that time in Austria and abroad. He travelled to Russia and Caucasus in 1888.
