Modernist flower watercolour executed by listed Austrian painter , professor Ferdinand Stransky (1904 Viehofen by St.Poelten - 1981 Tulln).

Artist´s biography (from German official homepage by Sonja Stransky):

He spent, as he always emphasized a wonderful childhood in absolute freedom.Orphaned early, he grew up under the loving care of his grandmother and on (large) aunts.1919 - 1923 visit the Restorator school at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. Maurer and Prof. Eigenberger.As a painter and draftsman, he is self taught. He lives on the restoration, but also sells her own work and is soon on the recommendation of the sculptor Georg Ehrlich included in the Hagenbund. 1937 - First solo exhibition.He gets by the Nazis a lucrative offer, as a restorer for a museum in Germany - as he refuses because the items would have been associated with a party membership - he went to front and takeda short time later in Siberia.After the war he worked as a restorer for the St. Lucas Gallery (until 1979).He joins the Viennese Secession, a founding member of the group "The Circle" and returns to the resolution back to the Secession. 1957 - Participation in the Biennale in Sao Paulo and it is him the title "Professor". 1958 - Theodor Körner Prize. 1962 - Major retrospective of the "Austrian Gallery in the Upper Belvedere "culture and the city of Vienna. 1963 - Participation in the Biennale in Tokyo. 1964 - Art Prize of the Province of Lower Austria. 1974 - Appreciation Award to the Austrian State Prize and major retrospective of the 70th Birthday in the Viennese Secession. On 30 December 1981 he died at the hospital Tulln on the effects of a brain hemorrhage and is on 11 January 1982 in an honorary grave of Vienna buried at Vienna´s Central Cemetery.

Technique: watercolour on paper. Gallery matt and gold-plated frame.

Measurements: unframed w 16 1/2" x h 22 " (42 x 56 cm), framed w 37 3/4 " x h 29 1/2" (61 x 75 cm).

Condition: in very good condition
