The tomb of Cecilia Metella (Italian: Sepolcro di Cecilia Metella) is considered one of the most imposing monuments grave on the Via Appia Antica in Rome.

"Sepolcro di Cecilia Metella" (ancient Rome) , antique (ca. 1800) cooper engraving by renowed Italian architect and etcher Francesco Piranesi ((1756 or 1758 - 23 January 1810 Paris ). Francesco Piranesi was the son of Giovanni Battista Piranesi and continued his series of engravings representing monuments and ancient temples. He worked for a long period in France, where he lived during the French Revolution.

Inscription: titled and signed in the plate lower left.

Technique: etching with margins on strong wove paper, unframed.

Measurements: image 24 7/8" x 17 3/4" (63 × 45 cm), with margins 27 1/8" x 21 1/4" (69 x 54 cm).

Condition: in good condition.
