Biedermeier portrait watercolour came from the famous old Viennese collection Bartsch /see collector#s stamp on the reverse) and was executed in 1836 by listed Austrian portrait and miniature painter Eleonore(Lory) Auegg-Dilg (1811 Vienna - 1890 Graz). She studied since 1830 by Moritz Michael Daffinger and Josef Kriehuber, later worked in Linz (1840-1870) and since 1875 - in Graz. The artist A. created mainly watercolour-portrait miniatures, which were due to their fineness and colorful design appreciated by the high society. She signed first with "Eleanor D.", "Lory D." or "Lory Dilg" later "Lory Auegg-Dilg" or "Lory Dilg-Auegg".Her works situated : ALBRECHTSBERG/Lower Austria, castle: BRATISLAVA, Painting.-Gal.: Portr., 1849. LINZ,City Mus.: many Portr.-Min., 1847-1852. Vienna, City-Gallery.Exhibitions: 1852 Linz, Art Union. / 1910 Vienna, Secession: Art of women; 1921 ebd., Auction Wawra / 1976 Bratislava, Painting.-Gal.: Waterclours and drawings of 19 century (Cat.).
