This Art Nouveau original work was executed in 1911 by well known German painter and graphic designer Leo Rauth (1884 Leipzig - 1913 Welschnofen in Eggental , South Tyrol). He studied at the Art Academy Karlsruhe by Ernst Schurth and by Waldemar Friedrich at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin , the Academy in Leipzig and from 1908 at the Munich Academy under Franz von Stuck
- In 1909 after study in Paris and Venice he returned to Leipzig , where he gained fame in a short time.
- Portraits , nudes , carnival scenes and sketches for set designs , posters , commercial art and 2 folder series "Dances".
Literature : Thieme/Becker "Allgemeines Lexikon der bildenden Künstler von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart".
Inscription: on the right : signed and dated 1911; on the left titled in German: "Der Windhund" (English: greyhound).
Technique: gouache, ink, heighted with opaque white, litho base / on greenish marbled cardboard paper ( so-called " elephant paper "), unframed.
Measurements: w 15" x h 15 " (38 x 38 cm).
Condition: in very good undamaged condition.
