A pair of masterfully compositions with flowers was executed on the turn of 19th century and due to the stilistic criteria and antique inscriptions on the back of the original cover was attributed to prominent Austrian painter Johann Baptist Drechsler (1756 - Vienna - 1811), who was mainly known for his flower paintings.
Literature: Thieme/Becker "Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon", Leipzig, 1999; Prof.H.Fuchs " Die Österreichischen Maler ", Vienna, 1975.
Inscription: unsigned, on the back of each original cover - antique inscriptions with the name of the artist and additionally old labels with artist's biography.
Technique: each - watercolour on paper, matted and framed in gold-plated Biedermeier style frames, on the back mounted original covers (from previous frames) with antique inscriptions ans biography labels.
Measurements: each: uframed w 8 1/4" x h 10 5/8" (21 x 27 cm ), framed w 15 1/8" x h 18 1/4" (38,5 x 46,5 cm ).
Condition : quite good condition (see photos).
