Crimean seascape with a Russian cruiser was executed in watercolour by famous Russian architect and marine painter Nikolai Dmitrievitch Prokofiev ( 1866 Nikolaev - 193 St.Petersburg). He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1885-1894): first in the class of landscape painting, from 1888 - in the architectural department. In 1894 he was released from the Academy with the title of class artist of the 1st degree and the right to a pensioner's trip abroad for a period of two years. Even during his studies, he participated in the interior decoration of the house of S. P. Derviz, as well as the interior decoration of the imperial yacht "Polar Star" (1886-1890; under the guidance of architect N. V. Nabokov). He began working as an independent architect in 1890; together with V. I. Karpov, he was engaged in the construction of the cathedral, as well as the monastic hospital of the Valaam Monastery, completed projects for the chapels of the Tikhvin Mother of God, St. Sergius and Herman of Valaam for the same monastery. In 1895-1897 - a pensioner of the Imperial Academy of Arts in Germany, Switzerland, Northern Italy. In Zurich, he practiced with the architect Ernst. In 1902 he was awarded the title of academician. Lived in Petersburg. He served in the economic department under the Synod, as well as in the First Russian Insurance Company and at the Baltic Shipyard, where he was engaged in the decoration and decoration of ships. He was a teacher of technical drawing at the vocational school of Tsarevich Nicholas. In addition to architectural practice, he worked as a watercolor artist. Participated in exhibitions of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts (since 1891). Member and exhibitor of the Society of Russian Watercolorists.
