This rare design created by Carl (Karl) Josef Geiger, very good-listed Austrian painter, born 1822 in Vienna (died there in 1905). Being only 13 years old Geiger was accepted to the Vienna Academy where he was a pupil of Josef von Fuehrich. The artist worked for the government of the city of Vienna and later started to paint allegoric scenes related to Christianity. The Emperor and many members of the aristocracy commissioned him to paint genre scenes illustrating leads of popular composers (Schubert, Mozart, Weber, Haydn, and others). In 1853-1865 Carl Geiger served as Professor of the Art School of the Viena Academy.
