Lovely classicistic miniature on ivory of dancing nacked children was executed ca. in 1800-1810 and due to the stylistic criteria, motive and quality was executed ca. 1815-1820s and due to the hand of Carl Josef Alois Agricola (1779 Saeckingen/Baden - 1852 Vienna), very well-known Austrian classicist, historical, portrait and miniaturist painter. The artist was born in Germany, began studying in Karlsruhe, moved to Vienna in 1798 and studied at the Viennese Academy under the famous Fueger. Agricola became a very popular portrait and genre miniature artist and also made many historical and allegorical paintings. Especially known are his paintings with little children, a few of them can be seen at the Austrian National Gallery "Belvedere".

Inscription: unsigned .

Technique: gouache on ivory, painted in circle, original period glass and fire-gilded bronze mount and velvet covered frame.

Measurements: image diameter 2 3/8" ( 6 cm); framed w 4 3/8" x h 5" (11 x 12,5 cm).

Condition: in very good condition.
