Large and extreme high quality portrait miniature of a young lady , decorating her dress and hair with flowers . It was executed in 1851 by the last important austrian miniature artist of the biedermeier epoch Georg Martin Ignaz Raab (1821 - Vienna- 1885). Our miniature is one of the best his miniatures and was illustrated in the importand monography "Die Österreichische Bildnisminiatur" by prof.H.Fuchs (see add.photo).Igeorg Raab is considered as the last important Austrian miniature painter of the middle of 19th century. His works are strong and immaculately drawn, them shows a warm colouring and usually a somewhat orange background. From 1861 - member of the Viennese union "Kuenstlerhaus" . He painted both numerous watercolors portraits and portraitmniniatures. He received numerous orders from circles of the Austrian royal coart and the aristocracy. Between 1840 and 1846 he was at least temporarily in Budapest, where he was extraordinarily active successfully in the best society. Miniature exhibition in the Albertina, Vienna 1924, contained ten works of his hand, under i them the portraits of the princess Lichnovska and the princess the Helene of Thurn and Taxis, sister of the empress Elisabeth of Austria, the portrait of young lady in white dress with a rose in cutout, the portrait of baroness Flora of Pirquet in white dress. On the art auction Leo Schidlof, Vienna 5 April 1921, was offered from the collection by Metaxa the portrait the Helene of Thurn and Taxis. On the exhibition " The painted small portrait" in the National Library, Vienna 1931, were exhibited the portrait of the Baroness Fanny Eskeles, dated 1851, the portrait of the count O´Donel and portrait of the poet Friedrich Kind .
