Large masterfully portrait miniature on ivory depicting French noble lady in turban with a landscape in background behind curtain was executed in 1829 by listed French female portrait and miniature painter Cyane Lecoq De Boisbaudran (1802 - 1897), since marriage in 1831 she signed her works as Madame C yane. The artist worked in Paris , where exhibited her works (portraits, miniatures and flowers) in Salon from 1824 to 1838. She was the sister of renowed French religion painter Horace Lecoq de Boisbaudran.

Literature : Benezit "Dictionaire des peintres,sculpteures, dessinateurs et graveurs"; Hardouin-Fugier-Grafe, 1992; Schidlof, I, 1964.

Inscription: signed and dated lower right on the edge : "Cyane Lecoq 1829".

Technique: gouache on ivory, original period fire-gilded bronze frame.

Measurements: unframed w 3 3/4" x h 5 " ( 9,6 x 12,5 cm ) , framed 5 " x 6 5/8" ( 12,7 x 16,8 cm )

Condition : overall good, thin crack 2 cm long in the upper left part .
