Fieglhuber-Gutscher, Marianne (née Fieglhuber) studied 1904-09 Art School for women and girls in Vienna by Ludwig Michalek and Maximilian Kurzweil; Priv.-Lessons with Robin Christian Andersen. Then extended study trips through Europe and to Egypt. Self-examination with mosaic and glass window technology. Lived in Vienna and Lower Austria, from 1921 further residence in Kasten/Styria. After the Second World War especially in Graz-Gratkorn, 1969 honorary Cross for art; 1976 Professorship. – Initially the most expressive representative of the "etching clubs of Viennese artists" from the Eraser class of L. Michalek. Later dedicated to almost of oil painting with landscapes, portraits and still life (especially flower pieces), nude works. Acts and women´s groups of the 1930s in the sense of motion and nature studies as well as women´s and children´s portraits, painted in various chords of a local color (comp. in Rosa; Girl in green). The design language of this gem is simple and natural, the mostly grey-muted color scale applied in strong brushstrokes or with spatula. From the 40s onwards, an ever stronger colouring manifests itself in glowing tones. Topic. The main focus now is on portraits, among others self-portraits, especially landscapes and motifs of the technological world, such as building complexes, factories, railway bridges, transmitting masts. F. Experiments with the paint applied in dense, rapidly discarded brushstrokes, while only in individual central parts of their gem the illustrators. structure is maintained; Expressive narrator. Char. Individual motifs and the reproduction of moods with suggestion of loneliness (hair dryer mood; Lights in the Twilight). Occasionally also Allegor. and Relig. Themes (Light procession; Proclamation). The color wins contents. Importance in the continuous preservation of the objectivity.
