Portrait of Ida (9 years old) and Josef (7 years old) von Walterskirchen, the children of Austro-Hungarian diplomat Count Otto von Walterskirchen and Countess Karoline von Hunyady . Karoline von Hunyady belonged to the Hungarian high nobility and  was a favorite and confidant of the Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary and  the empress' first Hungarian lady-in-waiting and gave her an enthusiasm for Hungary.

This masterfully painting ” ” was executed in 1885 by very good listed Austrian genre and portrait painter Ernst Nowak (1851-1919). Nowak was a pupil of the Vienna Academy under Carl Wurzinger and August Eisenmenger. He became famous for his portraits and genre scenes with monks. From 1888 Nowak was a member of the Vienna Artists Unit.
