Surrealistic composition by listed Belgian painter Arthur Maria Rener (pseudonyme for René Plompteux), born 1912 in Bressoulx (Liège), died 1991 in Waterloo (Brussels). He exhibited at the Gallery Nellens G.J. at Knokke, Albertstrand from 04-6-71 till 01-7-1971. He was the brother of Léopold Plompteux. He painted figurative compositions and sensual nudes during the fifties. Like his brother, he painted abstract compositions as well, often resembling cave paintings. From 1960 onward, he developed his own definitive style, creating a surreal world in a geometric-futuristic style, populated with extra terrestrial creatures . Member of the Group Fantasmagie. (founding members were Jean-Jacques Gaillard, Marc Eemans Robert Geenens, Thomas Owen and Max Bucaille). An artist with a particular and very recognisable signature.
