A pair of kitchen still lifes by good listed Italian painter Mario (Vittorio) Acerbi (1887 - Pavia - 1982). The artist was active in Pavia. Son of Ezechiele A. Related to Pasquale Massa. First taught by his father; studied under C. Sara, Borgognoni, and Kienerk at the Civic Scuola della Pitt., Pavia. In 1908, he won the Premio Lanzi with Amore all'Arte. In 1910, the Soc. Promotrice di Torino acquired the painting "Operazione chirurgica" (Surgical Surgery). He was particularly valued as a painter of landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. He remained stylistically close to his teachers, with some echoes of Impressionism.
