Masterfully Romanticism genre scene with bathers by the forest stream was executed in 1855 by famous German painter, fresco artist and illustrator Ferdinand Piloty [the Younger] (1828 in Munich - 1895 in Munich). Piloty was a son of the lithographer Ferdinand Piloty. The history painter Karl von Piloty was his older brother. At the age of 15, beginning on 1843, he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under his future brother-in-law Karl Schorn and was influenced by his older brother Karl, whose coloristic style he followed. He was also taught in his father's studio. As early as 1848, his portrait of "St. Sebastian" was on display in an art exhibition, and he participated in the figurative decoration of the circular painting of Jerusalem, which was created under the direction of Ulrich Halbreiter from 1848 to 1850. He executed a number of historical frescoes in the National Museum in Munich and in the town hall in Landsberg am Lech.
His most famous work is the portrait of King Ludwig II of Bavaria in general's uniform with the coronation mantle (1865). His other major works include five large frescoes in the Munich National Museum and the murals depicting scenes from the city's history in the town hall in Landsberg am Lech.
