Antique Russian icon, due to the style and high quality it's an typical example of famous Palekh school, 19th century, circa 1870-1880, oil and gold leaf on wood.
Depicts the Most Holy Mother of God, Joy of All Who Sorrow. Purchased from the Galerie Mikael in Strasbourg in the 1980s.
Inscriptions: in Church-Cyrillic.

Measurements: w 7" x h 8 3/4" (17,5 x 22,5 cm).
Condition: some flackings of gold, damages on upper right and lower right corners.
