This large landscape painting depicts view of mountain massif in the evening glow in front of mountain lake with illuminated group of trees. It was executed  ca. in 1870s by good listed Austrian Josef Thoma (1828 Vienna - 1899 Vienna). The artist  studied at the Vienna Academy and became a very well-known Austrian landscape painter with motifs especially from the Alpine region. Works by him belong to the collections of the greatest Austrian museums and various public collections abroad.
