Student: with Ramón Martí Alsina, Lluís Rigalt and Claudi Lorenzale y Sugrañes at the Esc. de Artes y Offices "Llotja" in Barcelona; from around 1866 with a state scholarship. Further training at Accad. Chigi in Rome. Conn. in Naples discussion of the work of Domenico Morelli; later a student of Ernest Meissonier in Paris. – In addition to landscapes and portraits (Retrato del Doctor C.M.) mainly genre-like and historical scenes, partly based on Neapolitan. Models (e.g., Costumbres romanas, Barcelona, MAM), partly influenced by the meticulous painting of Meissonier (e.g., Louvois rompiendo la espada delante de Luis XIV).
