Biedermeier portrait  of a young nobleman with mountain landscape on the background was executed in 1840 by Austrian portrait and miniature painter of Hungarian origin Antonin (Anton) Ferencz or Ferenz (1801-1888), who was active in Austria from 1834 to 1846.

Inscription: signed and dated July 1840 on the back side of the wood panel.

Technique: oil on mahagony wood , original period gilt frame.

Measuremwnts: unframed 7 5/8" x 9 5/8" (19,3 x 24,3 cm), framed 9 5/8" x 11 5/8" (24,3 x 29,4 cm).

Condition: overall good original condition.
