Masterfully portrait miniature of Beatrice Cenci ( 1577 - Rome - 1599) by Italian miniature painter Giuseppe Tresca ( 1770-1816). This miniature was executed by Tresca after the famous painting of the same title by Guido Reni.
The sitter Beatrice Cenci (born February 6, 1577, in Rome; died September 11, 1599, in Rome) was a Roman patrician. She achieved lasting notoriety because she was executed at the age of 22 for instigating the murder of her father, Francesco Cenci. Even after her death, Beatrice remained exceptionally popular among the Roman populace. Her act was considered justified self-defense, and her execution severely damaged the Pope's reputation.
