Original watercolour with interior of the St.gabriel Chapel in Salzburg was executed by Karl Müller, painter and graphic artist ( Vienna1862 - 1938Vienna).
The Gabriel Chapel is the burial chapel (mausoleum) of Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau in the city of Salzburg. Like the entire cemetery complex, it is a listed historical monument.
Karl Müller, from the age of 15t, trained as an industrial painter under F. Gareis. In 1879, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Trenkwald and E. von Lichtenfels and subsequently worked as a freelance artist in Vienna. He was a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien (Vienna Artists' Association) and, from 1879, a founding member of the Vienna Secession until his death. As a landscape painter, Müller undertook many journeys within and outside of Austria. He painted vedute (cityscapes), noble interiors, depicted the old town of Vienna and Salzburg in numerous watercolors, and provided designs for stained-glass windows. His correspondence with Stöhr, with whom he shared a close friendship, clarifies the events surrounding the departure of the Klimt group. Müller participated in all exhibitions of the Vienna Secession.
