This captain's painting ”The passenger and cargo steamship "Cesarevitsch Alexei" was executed in 1912 by unknown monogrammist JAR.
The ship left its mark on the history of the Russian Navy. Many books and articles have been written about it, despite the ship serving only three years. In 1912, six new steamships joined the Black Sea Fleet, including the "Tsarevich Alexei." Our painting was executed in the same year. ! The ship's crew consisted of 58 people, with first-class cabins comfortably accommodating 20 passengers, second-class cabins 32, and decks accommodating approximately 900. Cargo was carried in four holds.
On June 16, 1916, the ship "Tsarevich Alexei" sank after hitting a mine laid by the German-Turkish light cruiser "Midilli" near Cape Tarkhankut in the Crimean Black Sea. This event served as a harbinger of the Tsarevich's own tragic fate. On July 17, 1918, Tsarevich Alexei, along with his parents, sisters, and servants, was executed by firing squad.
